Gala Supports Y Community Programs, Raises Over $61,000
About 250 people attended a gala fundraiser recently that raised over $61,000 for the Central Bucks Family YMCA in celebration of their 50th Anniversary.
The evening featured video profiles of the Y’s key community outreach programs followed by mission auctions to raise funds for those programs. One video featured the Y’s 7th Grade Initiative program which provides free membership and specialized programming to all community 7th graders. Univest Bank represented by Jeff Schweitzer pledged to match donations made that evening to benefit the program up to $5,000. Other mission auctions included a feature on their Financial Assistance Program, THRIVE cancer wellness program and the Active Older Adult/Living Active program with matches from Penn Community Bank, Richard B. Millham and Marvin & DeeAnn Woodall respectively.
The event also featured an ‘In Memoriam’ slideshow honoring those important to the Y movement who are no longer with us and the debut of the 50th anniversary song and dancing. An impromptu singing of “Happy Birthday” to the Y culminated the event.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the community supporting this event,” said Zane Moore, President/CEO of the Y in Doylestown. The theme centered on the year-long 50th anniversary celebration and was held at the Edgar N. Putnam Pavilion at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown.
The Y wishes to thank members of the 50th Anniversary Steering Committee who helped to coordinate the event and their event sponsors and donors.
