Many parents express concern that their "older" kids are home alone all day over the summer, playing video games or texting friends. And while a little of that is fine, the Y promotes a balanced, healthy lifestyle and invites you to explore CIT camp at the Y.

CIT Camp is for incoming 8th graders through age 15, with four weeks minimum participation - pick the weeks that work for you and your child. CITs experience the fun of traditional summer camp but in a different way. CIT camp develops teens into positive role models. CIT youth partner with camp staff and work with younger campers to acquire skills, gain experience and learn responsibility.

Each Wednesday is an intentional day of fun, reflection and leadership development that includes special activities and a guest speaker.

Some highlights from parent praise and feedback includes:

1. Getting them away from technology. During the time they are participating in the program, there's no cell phones, no XBox and no electronics, allowing lots of time for interaction with staff and peers.
2. Leadership training. CITs work alongside seasoned staff and gaining leadership qualities through weekly coaching and reviews
3. Time with Peers. CIT's have lunch together as a group on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
4. Teen Trip Week. Everyone's favorite week, this year Teen Trip Week begins July 31 and includes Arnold's Family Fun Center, Dutch Springs, Dorney Park, Skyzone and Mermaid Lake.

Throughout the four weeks, our goal is to instill the leadership qualities that all employers seek such as communication, peer-to-peer interactions, and responsibility. We like to push the youth out of their comfort zone to that they can discover their strengths and grow in all areas.
