Swim Families Making a Difference

On Sunday, members of our Dolphin competitive swim team, adult Masters Swim team and intramural swim club gathered to make a difference. Participating in an inter-squad meet side-by-side, adults and youth competed together in a Fundraising Meet aimed at raising funds to support the YMCA 2nd Grade Swim Initiative. The meet was fully judged and served as a way for swimmers to "get times" for upcoming post-season meets.

Swimmers were seeded by their times regardless of their age, which made for a fun evening of kids swimming against their parents and coaches. In one case a father and member of the Y Masters Swim program, swam the first 200 Freestyle heat with his children on either side of him.

Each swimmer paid $15 to participate with all proceeds benefiting the program that aims to evaluate all 2nd graders in our area for swim safety. The evening raised a total of $500. Thank you to all swimmers who participated to support the 2nd Grade Swim Initiative program.
