Central and Lower Bucks Family YMCAs present “Why don’t you behave?” free for educators, coaches and caregivers
The community is invited to attend a hands-on workshop presented by Central and Lower Bucks Family YMCAs to learn how to handle negative behavior in children alongside Y staff. Educator, author and Emmy Award winner Michael Brandwein offers a skill-packed session on handling undesired behavior with calmness, confidence and consistency.
Brandwein will share his “Key System,” a proven, warm, respectful and consistent set of specific techniques to immediately teach young people how to make better choices while guiding them away from undesired behavior. Topics include:
- Identify & eliminate statements adults say when handling behavior that undermines credibility
- Learn & practice techniques to boost credibility so caregivers don’t have to repeat themselves
- Apply the Key System to know exactly what to say to replace negative behavior with better choices
- Practice how to respond to the most common things young people say
“We are excited to welcome Michael Brandwein to share his wisdom with our child-care and camp staff. In order to maintain our high standard of excellence in caring for children, it’s important that we keep learning. We hope coaches, teachers, camp counselors, parents and grandparents will join us as we continue to learn new skills to help our children grow,” said Central and Lower Bucks Family YMCAs Chief Operating Officer Trish Feinthel.
The cost is $25 per person or $20 per person for groups of two or more. The training is free for youth educators, instructors, coaches and camp counselors, but all attendees must register prior to the session. The training will be held on:
