The Power of a Simple Gift
One of the easiest and most common ways for you to support the YMCA is with a gift of cash. Your support is vital to our success, and enables us to be an essential component of the lives of so many in our area. Gifts-In-Kind
Gifts-in-kind are donor contributions to the Y in the form of goods, property, or services, as opposed to gifts of cash. How the Y processes a gift-in-kind depends on several factors, including the type of gift, the value of the gift, and how the gift will be used.
The Development office receipts GIKs in accordance with IRS requirements. The receipt does not value the GIK since determining the charitable deduction valuation is the responsibility of the donor.

Stock Gifts
When you donate securities to the YMCA, you receive the same income tax savings that you would if you wrote a check, but with the added benefit of eliminating capital gains taxes on the transfer, which can be as high as 20 percent.
